Family Update

I have been terrible at keeping people up to date on the happenings of our family. Fortunately, we aren't all that exciting, so you aren't missing much.

Life with a baby is humbling. She is constantly keeping me on my toes, and always needs something. I feel like I get nothing accomplished. We shall see if I am even able to finish this blog before she wakes up.

I've gone back to working more hours, on average 30 per week. I'll be at Homestead Small Animal Practice about 20 hours a week, and at Cardio Plus about 10 hours per week. You would think that working in a gym would encourage me to exercise. Ha! Honestly, it's hard to make the time unless I can fit it in while at work. The warm weather does wonders, though. I can do my cardio with the baby in the stroller, and the dogs on leashes. Now, THAT is my motivation to get outside, happy dogs and a happy baby!

On Saturday, I had the first opportunity to pamper myself in forever. Some of the gals from the clinic and I went to Just Teaz'n in Milford for a spa day. Even when living in the city, I'd never been to such a nice place! They gave me a cocktail to enjoy while I got pampered, getting my hair cut and a pedicure. I had Sarah doing my services, and I have to say that this is the best haircut I've ever had. I highly recommend them. I opted out of a manicure and a facial due to the fact that I had slammed my hand in a drawer earlier in the day, and smashed my head on Rhonda's trunk right before arrival. I figured getting those things done would be painful. I have a large green goose egg on my forehead now. It's gorgeous.

On Tuesday, Sydney got the spa treatment, as their massage therapist does infant massage. She really enjoyed it, and has been more chill today. I got some tips on things I can do for her at home, and I'm excited to try them!

While I was up there today, I got my brows waxed. I've not had time to work on them due to being so busy, either with the baby or work. They had gotten out of control, and I was starting to look like a less jaundiced version of Bert from Sesame Street. That has been taken care of, and I now have nicely sculpted brows with an actual arch. I feel so much more confidant! I was starting to be reminded of that old SNL skit, "I'm not a woman, I'm a MOM!" That was me, and now I'm starting to feel more like a female entity again.

In other exciting news, Sydney has been kidnapped by aliens, and replaced with a Pod Baby that sleeps though the night. It looks and acts mostly like Sydney, but it sleeps. My child does not sleep. The alien pod baby slept from 11pm Thursday night to 7am Friday. I assumed it was a fluke. Then Friday night, we went from 11pm to me having to wake her up and feed her before I left for work (615ish). I was stunned. Now the kicker, this little pod person went from 9pm to 7am on Sunday morning. That is when I knew it for sure, this is NOT my child. I should have gotten a clue when she didn't scream during her bath in the tub. I hope that the aliens are taking good care of my baby, but I'm starting to think that I might prefer this new one.

In all seriousness, she has a mild cold. I'm terrified that she's only sleeping because of that. Keep your fingers crossed that this is a permanent change in our lives!

Sounds like your enjoying being a Mom. You said, "I got some tips on things I can do for her at home, and I'm excited to try them!" If this works you might e-mail some info down this way. Heather and Justin never sleep, cheyenne could use some new ideas. Being the Great-Grand-Father I don't have to get up with them. You said, "I got my brows waxed". I've heard that is painful, you paid someone to do this? Thanks for the update.
